Occasionally movie day

Last night, just before I went to bed, I decided to make today my “movie day”. I spent a few hours trying to make a timetable based on a movie schedule. This is what I get.

I chose Paragon Cineplex cuz there are so many movies available. I do love Lido, but with very few movies left to see, I crossed over to the expensive side. I wanted to see at least 4 movies today, so I picked Paragon.

Thanks to “oh-so-fancy” cinema, I can only manage to see 3 films today. What seems to be the problem? Well, the price is the main issue. Normal seat cost 140 – 160 B while lido charge you 100-120 B plus a stamp card to redeem one free seat every 10 stamps.

Since Paragon is so fancy, they offer you a very special seating in a very special theatre. I’m trying to see the reaping at 13:00 but it would cost 600 B per seat … so I change my plan to 23 at 13:25 …. the theatre is even more fancy and it cost 3,000 B for 2 seats.

My plan was forced to change right in front of the box office staff. I don’t have much time to think so I took Hannibal Rising at 14:00, and that left me 1 free hour.

Another reason is because Paragon is sooooo commercial. Before the movie really starts, you have to watch 40 mins of coming attraction movie trailers and advertisements. [that’s less than 10 mins of trailers and ½ hour of ad.] While lido offers you 10 mins of trailers+ads. The less time you wasted, the more time you can spend on movies.

I wasted almost 4 hours on commercial and Paragon’s crappy schedule. I only managed to see 3 films which I’ll talk about later on.

08 September 2006

i'm officially an addicted.

i think i just into movies ... i just like watching them ... and i didnt watch them as often as other people i know, right? i mean ... i hardly go to the cinema these day ... even in my peak days, i only watch 1-2 movies a week ... and i didnt watch EVERY SINGLE FILMS that available ... that's why i didnt call myself a movie addicted.

but now it's official ... i am movie addicted ... i need them in my vain ... i need at least one good movie once in a while ... i'm so crazy that i made this table a few minutes ago ... cuz i have tomorrow off and i was thinking about i will have "as-much-movies-i-can-watch-in-one-day"

actually, it's an APEX movie schedule that i transform into simple diagram ... so i can figure out which film to watch first, in order to score as much as i can. all the time line is in scale .. and all the movies "box" length are according to the real playing hours.

i made this while i watch JOAN OF ARCADIA season two ... and now i feel like a maniac.

shit ... i'm officially a movie addicted.

oh! i forgot to summarize the conclusion of the table.

if u want to watch ALL the movies, then you CAN .. this is the actual steps
1.
starts at 9.50 for ask the dust at LIDO .. which ends around 11.50
2.
u’ll have 10 minutes break for toilet and snack .. before heading for an inconvenient truth at 12.00 at SCALA
3.
after 13.30 … 15 minutes for quick lunch and running back to LIDO … and catch me and you and everyone we know at 13.45
4.
now this is quite crazy … right after u finish the film .. move on to the wind that shakes the barley at 15.15 (it’s also at LIDO … so don’t worry)
5.
follow by dreamer at 17.45 it’s at the same cinema .. u can even buy the ticket for the same seat and u wont have to get up if u want .. but if u’re a little famish .. u have 25 minutes to grab a bite before the film starts.
6.
u’re so good at this … now go reward yourself a BIG meal cuz u have 1 hour ans 20 minutes before finishing the day with a great Korean film the host at 20.45
7.
have a safe trip home at 22.45 … u’ll even made it before BTS’ last train!!

have a fun day!!

A History of Violence

hey~hey here comes another Cronenberg's film. this Canadian director did it again this time. after Spider ... 3 years ago. here's A History of Violence. i saw a lots of bad comments about it .. but i just love the title ... even before i know any detail about it ... the plot, the director ... the minute i walked in. all i know is the title and the poster .... lol ... that's so me, impulsive decision.

sittin' there alone in my own row in da the cinema, i dont regrets chosing this film over brokeback. (i moved once during the king's antheme cuz the farang girls next to me keep talkin' and chewin' on their snacks the whole commercial time ... i dont wanna take a risk ... so i moved the first chance i get. i dont mind sittin' too close to the screen, in the small theatre like Lido, no one will. i just wanna enjoy my movie, with peace.)

i love Tom Stall ... i love the character and also think Viggo Mortensen did pretty great on his part. don't know who that is? i did know his face from other small roles ... but as a no-LOTR-watcher .. i have to admit that this introduction is easier for most people to understand, he's Aragorn.

Tom Stall: In this family, we do not solve problems by hitting people!
Jack Stall: No, in this family, we shoot them!

that's my favourite quote from the film. and don't get me wrong, one of my fav scene is the sex on the stairs. i mean ... look at the guy's eyes ... and all the details Cronenberg showin' us. i heard my good farang friends voice in the back row (that i moved away from) commenting about the edie nude after the sex ... what's the reason for showing a half second full frontal nudity that u can missed in a blink of the eye? as in Cronenberg's other films, this one also speaks on many levels, and i suggest seeing it more than once to fully take it all in. beautiful performances all around. well, go see it again and you'll understand.

hmmm .... did i gave out too much detail? did i spoiled the film? i have to put spoiled-warning on top of the blog. how can one comment on a film without spoilin' it, i wonder.

PUSHER part I

went to the BIFF with p na after my jewelry class today. i was so excited cuz i havent seen a good movie for ages!! (actually, it's only a month and a half for me .. but feels like forever) checkin' the schedule in front of the cinema, i found that the first two part of the PUSHER TRIOLOGY is on ... 8.00pm and 10.00pm ... in the same seat, so i dont have to leave after the first one end.

gettin' there .. the new PARAGON CINEPLEX ... it was somewhat fancy and the seat is as big as it cost ... i can put two ONG or FON in there (not me cuz i'm too fat) another good news is ... the director, mr. Nicolas Winding Refn, is there with us .. he gaves a little speach before the show .. WHICH I MISSED!! i was looking forword to tlking to him after the second show .. sadly, p na got a terrible headache ... he ensisted to stay in his seat until the end, cuz he dun wanna walk out in front of the director. after the first film end, we've just rushed out of there .. i wish i could stop for a little chat or at least a hand-shake .. but i dont wanna be to selfish ... i mean i got a sick man on my side .. i should get him home ASAP.

the film was GREAT though ... sadly i missed the second part ... AND LOST 280B. FOR FREE ... i wont spoiled the story .. just gonna tll u that i love the way he present all those emotion RAW nad ROUGH via those a bit flaky picture.

GO SEE IT IF YOU CAN!!!

here's the official webbie ... sadly it's no english http://www.pusher.nu/
